SUNDAY SERVICES

We Invite You To Join Us Online As We Gather To Worship!

While we may not be meeting in a building right now, we are very much being the church. We are praying more than ever, worshipping in our homes, connecting with each other and blessing our neighbors. We are helping our health care workers, taking meals to those who need them, praying for the sick and meeting the needs that arise around us.
We are Convergence and we believe that God has prepared and raised us up for "such a time as this."

Important Update from Convergence Elders

April 30, 2020
Dear Convergence Family,

Let me say how thankful I am for every one of you. Thank you for the way you have stood, believed, and given throughout this season. Thank you for the way you have let your light shine. You have done everything from bringing gifts of hope to healthcare workers to manufacturing masks at home. You have prayed, cared for, and fought for each other, your families, and your neighborhoods.

Together, we have prayed every single night on Facebook Live.  As we have met in our homes we have experienced God’s presence, seen extended family members touched, and have witnessed children come into relationship with Jesus.

As I am sure you are aware, our state is beginning to loosen the requests they have given us regarding worship gatherings.  I am thankful for Governor Abbott and the way he has led our state through a time of such intense pressure.

As we transition out of this season, there are still a number of requests the state is making for us as we begin to meet again.  These requests are not unreasonable and primarily involve two things:

  1. Encouraging those who are 65 and older or who have health conditions that put them at greater risk to watch or participate remotely for a while longer.
  2. Creating an environment where families on premises have 2 seats (6 feet) between them and other family units.

As elders, we have waited a few days to send this letter to you because we have felt a burden to clearly hear the Lord in regards to the timing of our beginning to gather again in our building.  We are very aware there are many opinions about this situation and we have taken extra time to make sure we hear and obey the Lord.

As we prayed over this, we felt we should begin opening our building again on Sunday, May 17.  We have wrestled with the Lord over this decision and feel this is His direction at this time.  We know we are not making this decision out of fear, but out of having sought the Lord together in prayer.

We bless you to clearly hear the Lord for yourself and your family, and return to our gatherings at the building as the Lord directs you.  This is not a one size fits all situation. It is very important for us to allow each family to come back as they are ready and not out of pressure or fear of being judged.

Here is our current schedule:

Friday, May 1          Friday Night Fire – online only
Sunday, May 3        Sunday morning worship with David Wagner – online only
Sunday, May 10      Sunday morning worship Mother’s Day – online only
Sunday, May 17      Sunday morning worship – online and in our building
                                                            (childcare will not be available)

Microchurches and other small groups will begin to gather again when the leaders of the individual groups are ready to meet and open their homes.

Convergence, I am so excited about the future we have together.  God has been strengthening us throughout this entire season.  We are closer and stronger.  We have less fear and more love. He is preparing and positioning us to be agents of restoration in the coming days.

As I pray, I feel an excitement about our beginning to gather together again in one room. I feel even more excitement about the call of heaven to

“…rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up the former devastations; and they will repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations”.  Isaiah 61:4

This is our time to rise up and help build things back better than they were.  This is our time to bring more of the reality of the heavenly city to our city.  This is our time to help people step into business opportunity and upgrade.  This is our time to help small and struggling churches and ministries in our city and in the nations.  This is our time to see the salvation of our families and neighborhoods.

It is in times like these that God raises up a people to stand and say Isaiah 61:2:
“He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.” NLT

Out of the ashes, the fear, the barrage of words, and the pestilence a people will rise up and declare to the mourning “God is real and has a life of grace and favor for you.”  I’m looking forward to stepping into this new season together with you.

With much love,

Steve
